Why we use and recommend ModMax Pistons over others?:

  • Deck, pin boss, and ring lands of piston are beefier to handle up to 1600 hp.
  • Tighter piston-to-wall clearance for a quieter running engine.
  • Ring grooves are flatter and smoother for better ring seal.

Compression Ratios w/ Pistons:

  • Flat Top Pistons used on 1996-1998 2V raise compression to 10.46:1
  • Flat Top Pistons used on 1999-2004 2V raise compression to 11.11:1
  • Flat Top Pistons used on 4V retain stock compression

Cylinder Head Porting:

                                              

                                          

  • Cylinder Head Porting is done on your heads, so please allow 2-4 weeks turnaround.
  • Cylinder Head Porting Disclaimer:We can not be held responsible for leaks after head porting due to "Core Shift".  This is not common, but does occur on rare occasion.   For further info, please call or e-mail.

IMRC Porting:

                      

  • Available for 1996-1997 Cobra's with Aluminum IMRC's, and 1998 Cobra's with composite IMRC's, using your IMRC's.
  • A great alternative to deleting IMRC's completely.  Unlike IMRC deletes, you will not loose any low end torque or horsepower.
  • Great for N/A & S/C applications.
  • Both the square and round intake ports are fully ported, without increasing the size of the ports.
  • The large factory screws that hold each brass butterfly are replaced with low-profile stainless steel button head screws.  The new screws are secured with permanent Loctite, and then the end of the screws are cut flush with the shaft.
  • This porting and screw modification has netted us an 18% increase in flow over stock.

1996-1998 4V Intake Manifold Porting:

                                     

                                                  

  • We offer 2 types of intake manifold porting for the 1996-1998 4V's, using your manifold.
  • The first is porting of the lower manifold, specifically where the lower intake meets the IMRC plates.  This area leaves a lot to be desired from the factory.  There is typically large overlaps where the intake runners attach to the lower manifold.  As seen in the above pictures, this transition from the intake runners to the lower manifold is completely ported. 
  • Great for N/A & S/C applications.
  • Perfect for street & strip vehicles.
  • Works great with our ported IMRC's.
  • Will not loose any low end torque or horsepower.
  • Our second porting option is best suited for cars that see the track more than the street, especially high rpm applications.
  • The same porting is done as above, but we also modify the intake runners.  The runners are removed from the intake and shortened.  After they are shortened, they are re-epoxied back on to the lower manifold.   This will increase high rpm horsepower and torque, but low end power will suffer some.  The power increase is typically seen in the 7,000-7,200 rpm range.  The IMRC's are also ported.
  • Also great for N/A & S/C applications.
  • Available 2 ways.  The first includes making your current IMRC plates into deletes, and the second includes keeping them functional.
